Feel safe, held, and free to let go.
I'm a trained trip sitter who comes to you.
I help you prepare, stay with you through the whole experience, and help you make sense of it afterward.
You've decided.
Now you want it done right.
You've done your reading. You've thought about it for a while, maybe a long while. What you want now is simple: someone steady in the room who knows what they're doing, so you can stop managing and start experiencing.
That's what I do. I'm Josh Jupiter, a native New Yorker and founder of Brooklyn Balance. I work as a concierge trip sitter, which means I come to your home, on your schedule, and I take care of everything around the experience so you can be fully inside it.
What a good sitter actually does
A sitter isn't a guru, a therapist, or a tour guide for your mind. A good sitter is quiet, present, and paying close attention. Here's what that looks like with me:
I keep you safe, physically and emotionally, from start to finish.
I don't steer or interpret. Your experience is yours. I won't tell you what it means.
I handle the practical stuff: water, music, temperature, the bathroom trip, the unexpected knock at the door.
I stay calm when things get hard. Difficult moments are part of the territory. I've sat through plenty, and I know how to help you move through them without fear.
I stay until you're grounded. There's no clock running. I leave when you're settled, not when a timer goes off.
How it works
Prepare. We start with one or more prep calls. We talk about your intentions, your setting, and what support looks like for you. I also review your health history and medications, and I'll tell you plainly if something needs a conversation with your doctor first.
Sit. I come to you. I help set up the space, and then I stay present for the full experience, as long as it takes.
Integrate. A follow-up integration session helps you make sense of what came up and turn insight into real change in your life, the way you want it.
Concierge means I come to you
Most people feel safest in their own space, so that's where I work. I sit with clients in their homes across New York City, and I travel beyond the city by arrangement.
I also support groups in private homes for day, night, and weekend gatherings. For groups, I hold space, look after newcomers, lead connection practices, and handle the logistics so the hosts can actually be present too. Fifteen years producing commercial film shoots taught me how to run a room calmly when a lot is happening at once.
Why work with me
Trained and certified: MAPS and TAM Integration certifications, plus training at Harvard Divinity School.
Consent-centered: I trained in the Wheel of Consent with Betty Martin's School of Consent, and I teach consent in psychedelic spaces. Nothing happens in our time together without your clear yes, including touch.
Educator: I teach psychedelic integration at NYU.
Without the noise: I'm not clinical, I'm not woo, and I'm not here to sell you a belief system. I'm here to help you have a safe, meaningful experience and get real value from it.
What clients say
“In the days since, I have felt super clear and light, and am trying to actively make some of these changes in my life that I learned about during the medicine experience! Overall, working with Josh was an incredible experience. It was my first time working with psychedelics in a group setting and he made it the perfect atmosphere. Couldn't recommend this experience more!”-MP
“I felt completely safe and supported during this experience. There can sometimes be nervousness or trepidation before these experiences, but in all of the communication prior to and right before, I was able to have all of my questions and concerns addressed, and was prepared as much as you can be. The balance of caring and professionalism was perfect for me.” -Charles
Questions people ask
What's the difference between a trip sitter and a guide?
A sitter is there to keep you safe and supported without directing your experience. Some people want more active guidance, some want almost none. We'll figure out what fits you during prep.
Is this a good fit if it's my first time?
Yes. First-timers often benefit most from having an experienced person in the room. Preparation matters even more for you, so we'll take our time with it.
What if it gets difficult?
Hard moments happen, and they're often where the most important material lives. I'll help you stay grounded, breathe, and move through it. You won't be alone with it.
How long do you stay?
Until you're fully grounded. I don't work on a fixed end time.
Do you work outside NYC?
Yes, by arrangement. Reach out and tell me where you are.
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier the better, since preparation takes a little time. Two to four weeks ahead is ideal.
What does it cost?
It depends on the length of the experience, the location, and whether it's one person or a group. I'll walk you through it on our discovery call.
