About Brooklyn Balance

Psychedelic experiences can be meaningful, powerful, confusing, and overwhelming.

Brooklyn Balance offers grounded support before, during, and after psychedelic experiences — helping people prepare intentionally, navigate what comes up, and integrate insights into everyday life.

This work is rooted in consent, discernment, nervous system awareness, and real-world integration.

No pressure. No promises.
Just grounded support for the journey.

About Josh

Founder of Brooklyn Balance

My path with psychedelics began more than 20 years ago with my first life-changing experience. What I didn’t have at the time was guidance on how to prepare, make sense of the experience, or integrate it into daily life.

In 2021, after a difficult personal experience involving unethical facilitation, I saw firsthand both the profound healing potential of psychedelics and the importance of safety, discernment, and proper support.

That experience ultimately led me deeper into psychedelic integration work. Through integration circles, community, and education, I found meaningful ways to process what happened — and experienced the power of healing in relationship with others.

Today, I support people navigating psychedelic experiences with an emphasis on preparation, consent, nervous system awareness, integration, and grounded care.

I believe psychedelic healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through intention, reflection, support, and community.

Beyond The Work

Before entering the psychedelic field, I spent over a decade as a commercial and music video producer, running my own production company and helping lead organizing efforts that contributed to the creation of a national labor union for commercial production workers.

That chapter of my life deepened my understanding of burnout, systems, power dynamics, and the importance of meaningful support during times of transition.

Outside of psychedelic work, I’m deeply interested in embodiment, healing, movement, and community.

You’ll often find me dancing (especially 5Rhythms), hiking, jogging, practicing yoga or Pilates, traveling, listening to music, trying new restaurants, or spending meaningful time with friends.

At the center of all of this is a simple belief:

Healing happens in relationship — with ourselves, with others, and with the communities that support us.

What Our Clients Say

“I can't find enough positive things to say about my experience with Josh.  For me, he blends the ideal balance of empathy, pressure for introspection, new age and science.  My original path to Josh was to explore a psychedelic experience with psilocybin with integration.  I realized later that I had it backwards…Despite having what would be considered conventional success, I had been dealing with low levels of depression, frustration, a "racing mind" and a lack of self love for much of my life.  I had been on a low dose of Adderall for over a year and while it helped, I always thought of this as a Band-Aid, not a solution.

Working with Josh completely changed everything.  He isn't a shaman or a guru or a psychologist.  He's a guide.  Josh doesn't claim to do it for you.  You have to put in the work, but I don't believe that I could have made the progress I have had without his guidance.

He doesn't even require that psychedelics have to be part of your journey unless you want it to be.  On the day of my experience or ceremony, Josh couldn't have been more thoughtful and patient.  I felt safe.  He gave the ceremony the sense of importance it deserved, didn't rush me in any way and assisted me throughout the entire experience.  We even went for a walk afterwards to discuss some immediate reflections.

After working with Josh during my first experience and integration, I don't think of him as just some person I worked with like the sometimes sterile relationship with a therapist.  He's a person in my life who I trust to help me ask the right questions and is a genuine good soul.

You would be hard pressed in my opinion to find a better guide or coach for your journey and beyond.”
