Clear, honest guidance for parents navigating psychedelics
Whether you're curious for yourself or worried about your kid, you deserve real information and a steady guide, not hype and not judgment.
Is this you?
You love your family, and you're running on empty. You've tried the usual things, and you want something that actually shifts how you feel.
You're curious about psychedelics, but the risks feel bigger now that someone depends on you.
You're wondering what, if anything, to tell your kids.
Your teen or adult child is using, and you don't know whether to panic, stay quiet, or say something.
If any of that sounds familiar, you're not alone. More and more parents are asking these questions. Most of them just don't say it out loud at school pickup.
For parents exploring for themselves
Being a parent doesn't mean you stop growing. Plenty of thoughtful, responsible parents are exploring psychedelics for more presence, calm, connection, and joy. Doing it well as a parent takes a little more planning, and that's where I come in.
Here's what we think through together:
Timing and childcare. Who has the kids, for how long, and what happens if plans change.
Recovery time. You'll want space after the experience before you're back on parent duty. We plan for that, not just the day itself.
The "what if" plan. Who to call, what to do if something unexpected comes up, and how to stay safe.
Privacy. How to protect your family's privacy and your own.
Bringing it home. How to turn what you learn into real change in your relationships, including with your kids.
For parents worried about a child
Finding out your kid is using psychedelics can be scary. Your first instinct might be to clamp down, but shutting the conversation down often pushes kids further away and leaves them less safe.
I work with you, the parent. Together we focus on:
Getting the facts. What's actually risky, what's overblown, and what to watch for.
Talking without pushing them away. How to open a conversation that keeps trust intact.
Harm reduction. Practical ways to make your kid safer, even if you can't control their choices.
Knowing when to get more help. Clear signs that it's time to bring in a doctor or other professional.
I work with adults only. I don't work directly with minors, but I can help you be the steady, informed person they need.
How I help
I'm Josh Jupiter, a native New Yorker and founder of Brooklyn Balance. I help people prepare for psychedelic experiences, sit with them, and coach them through integration so the experience improves their lives the way they want. For parents, that means:
Prepare. Prep calls to clarify your intentions, plan logistics around your family, and review your health and medications.
Support. Concierge trip sitting in your home, so you can let go knowing someone steady is there.
Integrate. Coaching afterward to turn insight into change at home and beyond.
For worried parents, we'll do focused coaching sessions on understanding, communication, and safety.
Why parents work with me
Trained and certified: MAPS and TAM Integration certifications, plus training at Harvard Divinity School.
Consent-centered: I trained in the Wheel of Consent with Betty Martin's School of Consent, and I teach consent in psychedelic spaces. Nothing happens in our time together without your clear yes, including touch.
Educator: I teach psychedelic integration at NYU.
Without the noise: no hype, no dogma, no lectures. Just honest, grounded guidance.
What clients say
“In the days since, I have felt super clear and light, and am trying to actively make some of these changes in my life that I learned about during the medicine experience! Overall, working with Josh was an incredible experience. It was my first time working with psychedelics in a group setting and he made it the perfect atmosphere. Couldn't recommend this experience more!”-MP
“I felt completely safe and supported during this experience. There can sometimes be nervousness or trepidation before these experiences, but in all of the communication prior to and right before, I was able to have all of my questions and concerns addressed, and was prepared as much as you can be. The balance of caring and professionalism was perfect for me.” -Charles

Questions parents ask
Can I explore psychedelics and still be a good parent?
Many parents find it makes them more patient, present, and connected. The key is doing it thoughtfully, with good planning around your family.
Should I tell my kids?
It depends on their age, your family, and your values. There's no one right answer, and we can talk it through together.
How much time do I need to plan for?
More than just the day itself. We'll map out the experience and the recovery time after, so you're not rushing back into parenting.
My kid is using. Can you talk to them?
I work with adults only, so I don't work directly with minors. I'll help you understand what's going on and talk with your kid in a way that keeps the door open. If your child is an adult, they're welcome to reach out to me themselves.
What does it cost?
It depends on what kind of support you need. I'll walk you through it on our discovery call.
